Exposition II: The morning star of the East

With the development of national, cultural, economic and political life in the second half of the 19th century, a number of associations and activities sprang up on the soil of the Citizens‘ Club: the Public Library, the Society of Amateur Actors, the Ethnographic Section, the Voluntary Fire Brigade, the Sokol Gymnastic Association and the Radhošť Mountain Union.

The Club‘s existence also predetermined the future social and cultural life of the town. These activities were taking place during the reconstruction of the town, the establishment of Czech self-administration and the development of the school system, and they are associated with a number of personalities: Valentin Kostelník, M.D. Rudolf Kallus, Jiří Felix, LL.D. Edvard Parma and Robert F. Křenek. In the exposition, a collection of the citizens‘ dining room „Literary Salon“ by Bohuška Křenková is presented, for example, with a crystal chandelier and paintings. Further, period attire including accessories, part of a collection of buttons, brooches and clasps by P. J. Slavíček, banners, photographs and registry material.
